Flemings Variety
with support from local volunteers and growers…
Our first Spring/Summer Event in the former Flemings Variety store on 4th Street was a great success! We sold nearly all of our memorial flowers, about 150 pies, several quilts and a myriad of local and retail items! The people of our small town showed such love and support all week long, and it a so rewarding to have the chance to greet old friends and new, while raising much needed support for educational programs and teachers in Dent County! A special thank you to all of our volunteers that helped us make this event a success - Jeanne Powell Trimmer, Geriann Ball, Mary Beth Cook, Ruth Annn Parker, Joyce Bradley, Sandy Dobbins and Meredith Parsons, and to Lisa Jadwin who ran the register all 7 days - all day! It was a wonderful week!
Our pies were a surprise hit! A special thank you to Jeanne Powell Trimmer, a dear high school friend, that stepped up to become a master pie baker - even figuring out the perfect recipe for our fresh Strawberry pie! We could not have done it without her tireless support each and every day of the event, as well as in the weeks leading up to the event. Thank you, Jeanne!
